“You can never take too much care over the choice of your shoes. Too many women think that they are unimportant, but the real proof of an elegant woman is what is on her feet.” —Christian Dior

Hola Beautiful people! So, I was all out and about fashion designing when one of my friend asked, “ Heyii, why not accessory designing?”. I was like, Really? What’s Up with accessories huh!? Well, I have the answer today. Your clothing may make up, majority of your outfit but accessories are more momentous and adds hell lot of dimension to your fashion quotient. It is like the exclaimatory mark you need on your styling!

The Brazilian native, London based jewellery designer, Fernando Jorge, said, “Now you see jewellery designers transforming the discipline and walking side-by-side with fashion designers”. He articulates how accessories give a youthful energy to your clothing and transforms it completely. Indeed authenticity figures greatly in Fernando Jorge’s artistry, showcased in his jewellery pieces, where he liberally uses the gemstones and minerals from his native Brazil.

Accessories are not only for the fairer sex. It is super-hit among men fashionistas. The Lazzini brothers, Alexandre and Rafael Lazzini, (Rafael, the Brazilian super-model I mean) co-owns their brand – Liberty Art Brothers. The brothers never knew, they will go this big with their hand crafted rings, bracelets, neckwears, hats, pendants, bandanas, capsulas, patches, pocket/wallet chains, just to name a few. The “Holy Eye” being their signature and the most selling among all. They are delivering their unique stuff all over the world! Accessories have come a long way.  We all are interested to make our look interesting and we know the soliution now.

Accessories add value to your entire look. Coco Chanel infamously recommended, “Before leaving the house, a lady should stop, look in the mirror, and remove one piece of jewelry.” I would like to add to it, if required, add on few pieces but don’t go over-board. DO NOT over-accessorise. It will defeat it’s purpose.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s collaboration with Christian Louboutin is probably the best thing that may have ever happened in the history of Fashion and Accessory industry. It is not just another representation of Indian piece in the International forum of fashion, but much more to benefit, mutually. The question isn’t about how Louboutin can match Sabyasachi’s eccelectical sublimity. Lehngas with Louboutin, imagine. It’s going to be something HUGE!

Sabyasachi says, his designs are, “ personalized imperfection of the human hand”. Whereas as Louboutin view’s himself as, “My sketches were not reproduced exactly as I had designed them and I couldn’t figure out why. The two dimensional sketch was so powerful on paper, but when turned into a three-dimensional object, it was somehow lacking energy. Frustrated after having tried different things to liven up the design, I spontaneously grabbed my assistant’s red nail polish and painted the sole. I instantly knew that this would be a success!”

Few tips to master the “Art of Accessorising”. Imagine you have no access to your wardrobe for the next three days- Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Let’s hear, what can we do to accessories a basic outfit consisting of a white shirt and a pair of well-fitted jeans that you are wearing. Three day. Three different looks. Thanks to your accessory box!

  • Night out? Look comfortable and chic even after a long day, for a casual dinner date with a pair of pumps and a sparkling evening clutch. Accessorize with cocktail rings OR an attention-grabbing earrings.
  • For the Girls-day-out, brunching or shopping, some colourful jewellery, a sling bag ( to keep your hands free to carry the shopping bags 😉 ), wrapping up your hair with a nice, brightly printed scalf. Boot-up as per the weather.
  • Black kitten heels for your Friday-Saturday dressing! Complete your look with a pearl neckline and a neutral coloured huge bag.

“The hardest thing in fashion is not to be known for a logo, but to be known for a silhouette.” —Giambattista Valli

Would love to hear from you about how do you play up with your accessories and which is your favourite. Until then, Adeus Amigo!!!
